With this year drawing to a close, it’s great to look back and see what all the passion, late nights and hard work has produced. I’m immensely proud of our team here at YoungShand. We’ve created some of our best work to date – from relaunching an iconic Kiwi brand to allowing Kiwis to say thanks with a beer, and showing New Zealand what people with low or no vision are truly capable of. So to round off the year, here’s a quick look back at the highlights of 2018.
To relaunch an iconic kiwi brand like Kiwi Bacon we had to do more than a quick lick-of-paint. We took the bold strategic move and opened the farm gates to show New Zealand why their 100% free farmed bacon is so good. A move which paid off as we watched sales increase by 35% in the first month, and picked up the Colmar Brunton Ad Impact Award for October.
The Blind Foundation Crew Swap was another highlight. In an unexpected move to drive awareness of their services, we swapped out members of Newshub’s crew with our blind and low vision crew, to help bring New Zealand the news. Proving, that there are no limits to what those with low or no vision can achieve, with a little help.
For many New Zealanders, the best form of currency for thanking a mate is a beer. Speight’s took this to the next level, allowing their fans to change the iconic three stars label, putting their mate’s name front and centre, along with a personalised message of thanks. Throughout the campaign, over 6500 mates were thanked with their own personalised Speight’s bottles.
Queenstown is the complete winter destination, with world-class mountains a mere 20-minute drive from a buzzing central town. To build anticipation and secure winter bookings for the 2019 season, we needed to create a film that showcased this unique offering to overseas tourists looking for their next winter adventure. So, we tapped into the excitement of the first snowfall of the season, bringing the feeling to life through a journey into the heart of Queenstown and all that it has to offer.
