We transformed the MinterEllisonRuddWatts corporate website to be more content centric to help the top tier law firm MinterEllisonRuddWatts better portray their professional and thought-leadership credentials. To do this, we profiled and mapped site users along with their needs. This allowed us to create and prioritise user stories, uncover behavioural insights and develop personas for key users to help inform our thinking. Using this information, we completely redesigned their website, creating an elegant and easy-to-use IA/UX that fulfilled users’ needs and which also included the addition of a content hub.


Digital communications are primary brand building and awareness channels for MinterEllisonRuddWatts. And the Firm’s corporate website represents a key component in that ecosystem as it acts as a hub where potential leads and current clients can visit for more information. However, the previous site was not fulfilling the needs of MinterEllisonRuddWatts nor its visitors; the site was time consuming and expensive to change or update, the IA/UX was unintuitive and overly complex, and the site was not responsive meaning it wouldn’t adapt to suit mobile and tablet viewers. Finally, the site’s look and feel was simply not reflective of a top-tier NZ legal firm.


MinterEllisonRuddWatts has both a wealth of historical case studies and they are constantly creating new articles focussing on current topics and trends. With this in mind, we evolved the MinterEllisonRuddWatts corporate website from simply being a catalogue of articles into an experience-led destination that delivers information and inspiration. What’s more, it can now cater for many types of visitors, rather than just those from a specific legal background. The site is now fully responsive allowing people to access it easily using any device they prefer. And the new Content Management System (CMS) we employed lets MinterEllisonRuddWatts update and change their own content quickly and cheaply. Lastly the site’s visual redesign delivers an aesthetic experience you’d expect from one of New Zealand’s premier corporate organisations.
